Our deputy chief donkey is slightly obsessed with Taylor Swift. And with good reason. Her most recent original album, Evermore, is up for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year (originally planned for 31 January 22, but rescheduled to 3 April due to, yep, COVID).
Taylor already shares the record of winning this award more times than any other artist – both Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder have won three times. Swifties will know that she won the award for her albums Fearless (2010), 1989 (2016), and Folklore (2021). If she wins one more time, she will be a true record breaker!
Now, with vinyl outselling CDs, Taylor brings her music to a new, or the same but slightly older, audience, with the first set of re-recordings of her back catalogue being huge sellers in 2021. Both Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) became top sellers and must now be considered classics in their own right.
Taylor added a level of maturity to old favourites like ‘Love Story’ and ‘We are never getting back together’. The addition of several bonus tracks ‘from the vault’ bring added depth, and the long-rumoured 10-minute version of ‘All too well’ take an already career-high song to dizzying new heights. Another record was broken when this 10-minute version reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the longest song in history to do so.
Keep your eyes peeled on our vinyl section, as Taylor’s albums are fast becoming collectors items – we are trying to get hold of stock when it becomes available. Like this one, Lover on colour vinyl!
